Ran Hu, PhD

Dr. Ran Hu is an Associate Professor of Literacy Education within the College of Education Literacy Studies, English & History Education at East Carolina University. She began her career in education in Beijing, China and earned her PhD in Education in 2008 with a focus in Language and Literacy Education. Dr. Ran Hu has publications on a variety of diversity and education related topics, including bilingual reading instruction, diversity in higher education, and literacy identity. Her research has been published in educational publications, including, but not limited to, International Journal of Education Methodology, Journal of Early Childhood Literacy, and Journal of Reading Education. Dr. Ran Hu has experience delivering presentations internationally and is a member of a host of organizations, such as Literacy Research Association, International Reading Association, International Chinese American Educational Research and Development Association (CAERDA), Tar River Reading Council, and the North Carolina Association of College Professors of Reading.
