Dr. Russell’s research interest focus upon gender and consumerism in the 19th and 20th century Egypt. In addition to her monograph Creating the New Egyptian Woman (Palgrave, 2004), a survey of Egyptian history, various encyclopedia entries and a translation, she has published recent articles in Journal of Middle East Women’s Studies and Journal of World History (2021).
