Angela Lamson, PhD, LMFT is a Professor at East Carolina University (ECU) in the Department of Human Development and Family Science. She is a clinical member of AAMFT and an AAMFT-Approved Supervisor. Lamson is co-creator of the Medical Family Therapy doctoral program at ECU. She has served as program director for the Medical Family Therapy (MedFT) doctoral program and Marriage and Family Therapy master’s program at ECU. She has also served as the inaugural Treasurer for the Family Therapists in Healthcare Topical Interest Network for the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and Division President for the North Carolina Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. In addition, she has served for over ten years on the Executive Committee for the Alliance of Military and Veteran Family Behavioral Health Providers at the national level. Lamson’s teaching, funding, and publications have been devoted to MedFT and integrated care, particularly in the areas of trauma, adverse experiences, chronic illness, loss, and compassion fatigue in the lives of military individuals, couples, families, and providers. She has secured over 4M in external funding including funding with the Department of Defense. Her training and research initiatives have been housed in community health, primary care, specialty care, school systems, and military installation. Lamson was honored with the AAMFT 2020 Outstanding Contribution to Marriage and Family Therapy Award.
